Couples Therapy in Los Angeles
Therapist Michela Tripp
Licensed Clinical Social Worker
Couples therapy with me is collaborative, human, and active. I’m in it with you, helping you slow things down, understand what’s underneath your patterns, and find new ways of relating.
There’s space for honesty, but also for humor, softness, and actually feeling seen.
Are you feeling more like roommates than partners?
Do you miss how things used to feel?
You care about each other, but something feels off. Conversations turn into the same arguments. Or worse, you stop talking about what matters.
Maybe you’re juggling parenthood, stress, or a big life transition that’s put the relationship on the back burner for too long. You want more connection, more intimacy, more fulfillment but don’t know how to get there. You don't have to figure it out alone.
Couples Come To Me When They:
Crave intimacy
Get stuck in patterns
Are Navigating a big transition
Miscommunicate
Stress in parenting
Feel out of sync
I work especially well with couples who are thoughtful, growth-oriented, and navigating full lives, whether that’s creative work, demanding careers, or new parents.
There are often invisible landmines in relationships. Just because your partner stepped on one doesn’t mean they put it there.
What Couples Therapy With Me Is Like
In our work together, I won’t just sit back and observe. I’ll step in and help you notice what’s happening between you in the moment. We’ll look at both the conscious and subconscious patterns driving your dynamic.
We slow things down so you can understand what’s underneath the reactions. Not just what's being said, but what's driving it.
Modalities I Use
-
Helps you understand your emotional needs and how you connect or disconnect from each other.
-
Explores the deeper roots of your patterns so you can break cycles, not just manage them.
-
Helps you understand different parts of yourself that show up in conflict, and what they’re trying to protect or express.
-
Teaches you how to regulate reactions so you can respond instead of react.
-
I actively engage in the room, offering real-time feedback so you can shift patterns faster.
My approach is holistic and integrative. We look at how your emotions, your history, and your nervous system all shape the way you relate to each other in the present.
Reconnect As Partners
Relationships can act as a mirror, reflecting back the parts of us that aren’t fully healed and inviting deeper understanding.
After Therapy With Me, Couples Experience
Less reactivity, more emotional safety
More empathy, greater understanding
Stronger trust and connection
Know “how to fight”
Feeling like a team
More intimacy + laughter
This work isn’t about assigning blame, it’s understanding the patterns you’re both caught in, and learning how to move through them differently.
Hey, I’m Michela
Michela Tripp, LCSW
My therapy is designed for couples who want more than surface-level communication fixes. We go deeper so the changes feel meaningful and actually last.
Sessions with me are active, intuitive, and grounded. I’ll guide you, challenge you when needed, and help you slow things down so you can really hear and understand each other. Clients often tell me it feels easier to open up here and that shame gets quieter when we work together.
I’m also a mom to a toddler and in a long-term partnership, so I understand how real-life stress, parenting, and time constraints can impact a relationship. Outside of work, I love road trips, podcasts, farmers markets, cozy meals with friends, and time in nature.
Availability: I offer in-person therapy in Larchmont Village and virtual sessions across California.
